Happy New Month, BITCHES!

Wagwan, FAM, how are you all doing? Hope T-bags (normal Tinubu’s na) shege isn’t getting to you. So a lot happened in the month of June for me, so I am going to do some throwbacks or recaps of the month of June. June was one of those months that felt both incredibly long and surprisingly short. Looking back, the month revolved around serving God, spending time with family, celebrating milestones, and making memories with people I admire. Let’s dive in

The Honor of Preaching During Youth Week

So for a very long time my church youth committee wanted me to be the youth president for like 2 years or so, and each time they came, I was always rejecting and telling them that I no dey dooooo. But then what changed was the theme of the year. The theme was “EXPLORE,” and that was just what it was. Let’s see how it goes. I said. Anyways, it was great. It was really a full-circle moment, if I can call it that. Because my dad is the church pastor, and then getting to also preach on the same altar as he does was great. The nerves before preaching were intense. I had to preach for two services. English service and Yoruba service. Both were great glory to God. The message God placed in my heart for that day was that as believers, God is calling us to move beyond fear, limitations, and comfort zones into the fullness of His purpose. To explore successfully, we must cultivate obedience, faith, spiritual perception, the ability to hear God’s voice, and the courage to separate from anything that hinders our growth.

The journey of exploration brings divine benefits: a deeper relationship with God, prosperity, multiplication, hope, establishment, worship, and rest in His promises. The opportunities God has prepared for us will only be discovered when we are willing to step out in faith and follow His leading.

The response was great because I tried to carry everyone along. Though Yoruba service was kind of tough, Icel, what I personally learned from that theme I preached on is that God is calling us, His people, to move beyond fear, comfort zones, excuses, and limitations. Our availability, willingness, obedience, and faith are required. The time has come for us to rise, move forward, and possess what God has prepared. It is really our time to GO AND EXPLORE.

Kenny Kore’s Eledumare Classic Concert

So I planned on attending the concert before, but then I was just giving excuse upon excuse, and by the time my mind was made up, the ticket price don go up. I said I wasn’t going to go. Then two days before the concert, on AEO’s IG fans’ page group. they dropped a message that AEO’s management was giving free tickets for anyone that wanted to attend. And honestly, in as much as I wanted to feel the nostalgia of watching Kenny Kore, I wanted to see AEO and also Sinmidele, cos only God knows when next I will watch them perform. Because they mostly do their shows in December, which is way far. So I indicated that I was going to attend and I got my ticket

Sinmidele Performing

The atmosphere that day was great. It was so nostalgic cos half of the hall was filled with people in their late 30s and early 40s and 50s and even dem grandpa and grandma. Worship was intense like mad. The live music was mad. The band knew their onion abi how una gen z dey call am. The crowd response was postive cos even the artist that opened for Kenny Kore felt the crowd. Aside from Kenny Kore, I had the privilege to watch AEO, Simidele, 121 Selah, Saelem, Ife MOJ, and others that I can’t really remember right now.

Every artist brought something different. Some moments were energetic, others deeply reflective, but together they created an unforgettable worship experience. My favorite performance was obviously AEO’s and Sinmidele’s performances. Initially after the concert I said I was gonna write a blog about it but I was exhausted asf

Celebrating Dad at 60

Baba Oye, as I fondly call him cos he said he doesn’t like “Pops,” “Popsi,” and the like, clocked 60!!!!! That man don dey old hin suppose don get like 2 grandchildren if I was serious with my life. Anyways, preparation was crazy, because it was meant to be a surprise thingy, but our planning was sha fucked up anyhow, anyhow. We still celebrated him. It was a great day.

Seeing people he had impact on give testimony about him was mad. And had the privilege to see some of my aunties sha. It was a great celebration. Gave testimony on behalf of my siblings and ate cake like mad. That was the only thing I ate that day, and also meat.

A Night I’ll Remember: LIAM Party with AEO

AEO just released a love album called “Love Is A Machinery” and then called for a listening party. Ofc I will be there. Why won’t I be there? Anyways, I got my ticket and I was surely going to attend. Even volunteered to do ticketing and registration for people for the party. By now you should know that AEO is my GOAT. So anything for my GOAT. Then the Sunday for the event, rain started falling. I am like, “Egbami ke,” and it was heavy, heavy rain, guyyyy. I tried checking Bolt to see the fare, and I was seeing 20k-30k plus from Mushin to Ikeja. 😭😭😭. Anyways, I had to wait for the rain to do the calms before I left home. And when I got there, broooooo, everyone there knew themselves. It’s like they all attend the same churches. Everyone was just hugging themselves and looking, and there was me, who didn’t know anyone. Oh no, I saw one of my former church members, Sha, so that also counts. But everyone saw each other in church or something. Anyways, AEO came out and just kept thanking us for showing up regardless of the fact that it rained; we still turned up for him, and then we got to the party. If you know AEO, you will know that his lyrics are kind of hard to know. Aside from that, the album was just some weeks old, so he provided us with lyrics to sing along with him, and it was fire. My best performance was when he performed Love Lingustics, End of the Day, Pretty Wings, Orlando, and Get You with Sinmidele.

What June Taught Me

The month of June taught that serving God is always worth saying yes to and that time with family is priceless, very priceless. Worship experiences stay with you long after the music ends. Celebrating people’s milestones reminds you to be grateful for your own journey.

Looking Ahead

For the month of July I am looking ahead for new opportunities, more adventures. more creative projects and growing personally and spiritually.
